Engineering & FEED Studies

Concept, feasibility and front-end engineering for processing, gas-recovery, power and utility projects in Iraq — with the financial model developed beside the engineering, so the decision is made on evidence rather than enthusiasm.

What we deliver

From a question to a fundable case.

Most projects in Iraq fail early for lack of a clear, defensible study — not for lack of technology. We produce the documents an owner, a lender or a ministry can act on: the process basis, the equipment, the cost, the schedule and the economics, with the assumptions written down.

  • Concept & feasibility — options screening, process selection, block flow and preliminary sizing, Class 5–4 estimates
  • FEED / FEL-3 — PFDs and P&IDs, heat and material balances, equipment lists and datasheets, plot plans, electrical single-lines, control philosophy, Class 3 estimate and execution plan
  • Financial modeling — CAPEX/OPEX, revenue streams (power, NGL, CO₂ credits, deferred fuel), sensitivities and financing structures
  • Debottlenecking & brownfield — capacity and integrity studies for operating facilities, with realistic tie-in and shutdown plans
  • Technology evaluation — comparison of vendor packages against the process case, not the brochure

Where the depth comes from

Senior process authority, U.S. engineering discipline, and field reality.

Senior process & project review

Every study is reviewed by senior process and project consultants whose careers span Dow, KBR, McDermott, Saipem, PDO, Kvaerner and Worley — refineries, petrochemicals, gas processing, onshore and offshore facilities.

U.S. engineering consultants

Taqwin's engineering work is produced by U.S.-based consultants in process, mechanical, electrical and controls, project management, HSE and QA/QC, coordinated from Bellevue — with deliverables to API, ASME, ISO and IEC standards.

Iraq constructability

Green Fields Oilfield Services reviews every study for how it will actually be built in Iraq: logistics, local materials, permits, shutdown windows and the crews available. A study that cannot be executed is not a study.

Reference

Flare gas to power — North Refineries and Salahadin

Concept and feasibility studies for converting technically difficult high-hydrogen, high-liquids flare gases at the North Refineries (Baiji) and Salahadin refineries into up to 100 MW of power, completed in 2023 with Green Fields Oilfield Services and international technology partners.

The work covered gas characterization and conditioning, technology selection, plot and tie-in options, CAPEX and OPEX, and a financial model in which the case is carried by OPEX savings, CO₂ credits and NGL sales rather than by a single tariff assumption. The result: a compliance path with a payback the refinery could defend.
